Understanding Cache County Releases
“Released” describes the end of one agency's physical custody. It does not always mean that a person went home. A Cache County Jail detainee may leave on bond, after dismissal, for time served, or at the end of a county sentence. The same departure may be a transfer to the Utah Department of Corrections, another jail, federal custody, a hospital, or immigration custody. The release record must identify the route.
A person normally vanishes from a live jail roster after departure. That makes the roster useful for a present-custody check, but weak as proof of release. Cache County adds another limit: its displayed list excludes Utah State and federal prisoners even when they are housed inside the jail. Match a full name with a date of birth, booking number, offender number, or court case before drawing a conclusion.

Cache County Release Types
The recorded disposition determines which source should be checked next. A bond receipt proves that money was paid. A court order proves judicial authority. Neither document alone proves when jail staff completed the exit or whether a second hold prevented community release.

“Transfer” is still a departure from Cache County Jail. It is not a release to the community. Ask for both the release disposition and receiving agency so the record does not hide that distinction.
Cache County Release Record Fields
The Sheriff does not publish a data dictionary for jail releases. A focused request can still name each fact needed, if the agency maintains it and the field is releasable. Identity details prevent a same-name error. Departure details show what Cache custody actually did.

The Sheriff record controls its own labels. These are request terms, not a claim that every item sits in one database. A court order may explain the legal cause, while the jail record supplies the actual exit time.
Request Cache County Release Records
The Cache County Sheriff Records Department accepts written requests by email or in person. Its form includes a “Jail Records” category. Narrow wording helps staff find the right booking without turning the request into a demand for a legal opinion.
- Complete the Sheriff Request for Records form and any identity or notarization form that applies to the requested material.
- Give the full name, date of birth, known aliases, booking number, and a tight date range.
- Ask for admission and departure times, disposition, destination, holds, charges, case identifiers, and segregable releasable portions.

Published jail-record pricing is $10 per 25 pages, prorated. A feasible appointment-based inspection is free. The office says processing may take up to ten working days, while active reports remain unavailable until cleared. Most Sheriff records stay on file five years and some indefinitely, but that general statement is not a guaranteed five-year release archive.
Note: Records not collected within 60 days are destroyed without refund, so arrange pickup or delivery after the office gives notice.
Cache County Release Record Law
Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act, known as GRAMA, governs agency record access, fees, classifications, and appeals. A jail fact is not public merely because it exists. Public, private, controlled, and protected classifications can require redaction or denial. Section 63G-2-204 generally provides ten business days for a response, with a shorter route only for a qualifying expedited public-benefit request.
Cache County release records may be restricted or redacted. Ask for all reasonably segregable public portions instead of assuming the full booking file must be disclosed.
Sealing and expungement also affect public access. Utah Courts states that Xchange excludes expunged and sealed cases. An expungement restricts government records from public inspection; it does not mean that the event never happened or erase every lawfully independent report. A no-result search can therefore reflect legal restriction, a spelling mismatch, the wrong court, or an ended supervision record.
Cache County Release Funds
Cache County publishes one firm release-day property detail. The jail places the remaining inmate-account balance on a debit card and releases that card with the person. It does not publish a standard exit door, routine release hours, weekend process, family waiting point, transport plan, or general gate payment.
Those missing details matter when a family is arranging a pickup. Call the booking and inmate-information line at (435) 755-1227 before traveling. Ask whether physical release has occurred, where an approved pickup should wait, and whether the person left for another custodian. State-prison release instructions should not be borrowed for an ordinary Cache County Jail exit.

Confirm Cache County Bond Release
The jail links to a Cache-specific GovPayNet bail payment route. Payment starts a process. Jail staff may still need the court information, must apply conditions, and must check other holds. A different agency can also assume custody.
Does a bail receipt prove release? No. Keep the receipt, then call the jail. Ask whether the person has physically departed and whether the disposition was release to the community or transfer. If lasting proof is needed, request the admission and departure record rather than relying on the payment timestamp.
Find Cache County Released Inmates
Start with legal custody, not a broad name search. Cache County-only detention, Utah prison custody, federal sentencing, and immigration detention have different records. The following order preserves those boundaries and gives a fallback when an online display fails.
- Check the official Sheriff jail page, then call (435) 755-1227 because both county displays were unavailable on the research date.
- If Utah prison or supervision is possible, search UDC by offender number or name and match the date of birth.
- Search the Board of Pardons and Parole for a hearing and its later decision. A hearing date is not a release date.
- Use VINELink for a status check or alert, then verify the event with Cache County or UDC.
- Search Utah Courts Xchange for the order or outcome that explains the legal change.
- Use BOP or ICE only when federal or immigration custody is plausible.
- Obtain the jail, corrections, or court record when durable proof is required.
A released person often leaves the current roster. Cache County also omits housed state and federal prisoners, so absence alone never proves release.

UDC Cache County Release Search
The Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search covers people currently under UDC supervision. It excludes unsentenced county detainees and is not a full archive of discharged people. Search by offender number when possible. Otherwise, enter at least one character in both the first and last name, compare the date of birth, and open “View.”

The exact label is “Release Date/Type,” not projected or tentative release date. A PAROLE location confirms community supervision after prison, not release from the Cache jail. When a fully discharged person drops out of the current-supervision search, use the Board order, court case, and a UDC GRAMA request.

Cache County Recent Release Limits
Cache County identifies a current-inmate list and a “Who's been booked? (Last 30 days)” list. Both embeds were unavailable when researched. Neither is labeled as a 24-hour or 72-hour release feed, and the 30-day window is about bookings rather than departures. Filtering an arrest date cannot create a release list.
The Sheriff's terms say the unofficial roster is not updated more often than six times per hour and often updates less. That is an upper cap, not a promise of ten-minute refreshes. The county also warns that official records control. Call the jail for immediate status, then use the Records Department for documentation.

The record route remains useful when a roster changes, an online embed fails, or a past departure has aged out of a public display.
Cache County Release Programs
The jail lists AA, Addiction Recovery or Heart to Heart, high-school instruction, InsideOut Dad, and parenting activities. InsideOut Dad includes planning for fathers' release. Participation is not proof that someone left custody, but it can explain a transition service mentioned by the person or family.
These are in-custody programs. They do not create a release date, show that a court has authorized departure, or confirm that jail staff completed processing. Use the jail record for those facts.
Cache County Release Property
Cache County says mail is not forwarded after release. Mail sent to a former inmate is returned. Books become jail-library property after release or transfer, and scanned mail or photos are disposed of after seven days except legal or privileged mail. The official page does not publish a broad property-return, replacement-ID, or correction process. Direct property questions to jail administration and errors to the office that made the record.
Cache County Release Court Search
Utah Courts Xchange can show the court event behind a release, including dismissal, release conditions, judgment, credit for time served, probation, commitment, or a warrant. It is not a live jail clock. Pair the order with the Sheriff departure record.
Cache County lies in the First Judicial District. Felonies and class A misdemeanors go to district court. Most class B or C misdemeanors, infractions, and traffic matters go to the correct municipal justice court. Cache County has no county justice court, so a search confined to Logan can miss a case from another municipality. Search district and the relevant city jurisdiction, using a case number where possible.

Cache County Release Supervision
Utah Adult Probation and Parole supervises both probation and parole, but the legal sources differ. A judge imposes probation. The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole orders parole from state prison. The UDC search may show Location as PROBATION or PAROLE and display case-manager details.

It may mean the person had only county custody, the name differs, or supervision has ended. Compare the UDC record, court order, and Board decision before treating supervision as active or complete.
Cache County ICE Release Transfers
An ICE inspection from August 2020 proves a historical immigration-detention role at Cache County Jail. It does not prove that a contract exists now. If local charges resolve and ICE takes custody, Cache County records a departure to ICE, not a community release.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers current detainees and people released from ICE within the prior 60 days. A blank result is not conclusive. Use full identifiers, allow for lag, and ask the jail whether another authority received the person. ICE explains that a detainer can request notice and up to 48 extra hours for a custodial handoff.
Cache County Roster Release Gaps
The public Cache list expressly excludes Utah State and federal inmates held at the jail. UDC's 2024 Jail Programs report lists 374 beds, including 150 contract beds and 100 beds available for Corrections use. This makes a roster false-negative more than a technical concern. A person can be physically inside the building while absent from the public county list.

Cache County Jail Release History
The Sheriff's history traces Cache detention to a prisoner held in a log schoolhouse in June 1860 because no jail existed. Old Rock Jail served from 1887 into the early 1960s. A later sheriff and jail complex occupied and expanded the same site before the current West Valley View complex opened with a move in May 2004.
That history explains why older records can belong to different facilities and eras. It does not change the modern release path. Current status comes from the jail line, and lasting proof comes from Sheriff Records, the appropriate court, or the receiving agency.
Cache County Release Notifications
The UDC VINE Service offers a name or offender-number check and phone or email alerts for UDC events. Reportable events include release, transfer, escape, and death, plus state-specific parole and movement notices. Cache County's independent jail participation was not verified on an accessible official list. Search the live Utah system, then confirm the event with the jail or UDC.
For a sentenced federal prisoner, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A result marked Released or Not in BOP Custody proves departure from BOP, not freedom from every authority. The U.S. Marshals Service has no comparable public historic locator, so a focused agency inquiry or FOIA request may be needed for Marshals custody.
Cache County Release Facility
Cache County Jail is the only separately documented detention facility found in the official county and Utah corrections sources for Cache County. It serves local pretrial and county-sentenced custody and can hold contract prisoners. A local person may go to the community, while a transfer can lead to UDC, another county, federal custody, medical custody, or ICE.
The facility page gives the jail-specific phone, records route, roster exclusions, release-account detail, and destination checks. No separate state prison, federal prison, municipal jail, or UDC community correctional center in Cache County was found in the sources reviewed.
