Cache County Jail Release Routes
Cache County Jail holds local pretrial detainees, people serving county sentences, and contract prisoners. An ordinary local detainee may go to the community after bond, recognizance or other court conditions, dismissal, time served, or sentence completion. Staff must finish the applicable process and clear every hold before physical departure.
A departure can instead be a transfer. State-sentenced prisoners move into the Utah Department of Corrections path. Federal cases may pass through the U.S. Marshals Service or Bureau of Prisons. ICE can take immigration custody, while another sheriff may receive an intercounty transfer. Ask for the destination and receiving authority, not just whether Cache custody ended.

Confirm Cache County Jail Release
The official jail page identifies current-inmate and last-30-day booking displays, but both were unavailable when researched. Neither is a recent-release list. Even when the current list works, the page warns that Utah State and federal prisoners housed at Cache County Jail are excluded.
- Open the Cache County Jail page and note the current status of its displays.
- Call (435) 755-1227 and ask whether the person is physically held now.
- If the person departed, ask for the actual date and time, disposition, and receiving authority.
- Follow any transfer in the correct state, federal, immigration, or county system.
- Request the official booking and release record for lasting proof.
A roster absence is not proof of release. It can reflect a transfer, contract custody, downtime, a different identifier, or a completed community exit.

Cache County Jail Release Records
The Sheriff's Records Department keeps the durable agency record. Its form includes jail records and accepts a date range. Give a full name, date of birth, known aliases, booking number if known, and exact event dates. Ask for admission and departure timestamps, release disposition, destination, receiving agency, holds, charges, court case, and any releasable booking image.

The published form prices jail records at $10 per 25 pages, prorated. Inspection is free when it can be done in a reasonable time by appointment. The office says a response may take up to ten working days. Active reports wait until cleared, and record classification may restrict private, controlled, or protected parts.
Note: Most Sheriff records remain five years and some indefinitely, but Cache County does not promise one fixed retention term for every release record.
Cache County Jail Custody Scope
The Cache County Sheriff's Office operates the jail for male and female local detainees and contract prisoners. The Utah Department of Corrections 2024 Jail Programs report lists 374 beds, 150 contract beds, and 100 beds available for Corrections use. Those figures describe capacity and contract use, not a release count.
A state prisoner in a Cache contract bed remains a UDC legal-custody case. UDC says almost all state prisoners held in county jails are taken to the Utah State Correctional Facility for Tuesday release processing. Direct release from a contract jail is rare and would be communicated separately. That practice does not govern an ordinary Cache detainee leaving after bond or a county sentence.
Cache County Jail Roster Gap
The jail's public list explicitly omits Utah State and federal inmates housed in the building. With contract and state-designated beds documented, that exclusion creates a real false-negative. Someone may be inside Cache County Jail yet absent from the county display because another government has legal custody.
The Sheriff's roster terms also say the unofficial display is updated no more often than six times per hour and often less. This language caps update frequency. It does not promise a ten-minute refresh. The county says the display is informational and that official records control, so timing should be confirmed by phone when an actual departure matters.

Cache County Jail Release Day
The jail publishes one concrete release-day property rule. Remaining account funds are placed on a debit card and released with the person. It does not publish routine county release hours, a public exit door, weekend processing rules, waiting areas, transport home, or a broad unclaimed-property deadline.
Mail is not forwarded. Mail for a person who is no longer incarcerated is returned to the sender. Books sent to an inmate become part of the jail library upon release or transfer. Incoming scanned mail and photos are disposed of after seven days, except legal and privileged mail. None of these rules should be expanded into a claim about all personal property.
Call the booking line before arranging travel. Ask whether release processing is complete and whether staff can provide lawful pickup guidance. Do not apply UDC's published Tuesday prison-release schedule to a local Cache County Jail departure.
Cache County Jail Bond Release
Cache County provides a county-specific GovPayNet route for bail payments. A successful payment does not establish physical release. Staff must process the payment and judicial terms, and another charge, warrant, or detainer may still block community exit.
After payment, call the jail. Ask whether the person has left the facility and whether another agency assumed custody. Keep the receipt as proof of payment, then obtain the release record for proof of actual departure. No local bond schedule or Cache-specific pretrial-services office was verified in the research.
Cache County Jail ICE Handoffs
ICE inspected Cache County Jail in August 2020. That official record establishes a historical immigration-detention role, but it does not show that a contract or ICE population exists in 2026. Present operations must be confirmed rather than inferred from an older inspection.
If ICE takes charge after local matters end, the event is a release from Cache custody to ICE. It is not a community release. The ICE Online Detainee Locator includes current detainees and people released from ICE during the last 60 days. Search with full identifiers, then verify any result with ICE and the Cache departure record.
An ICE detainer can request notice before ordinary release and up to 48 additional hours for transfer. A blank locator result is inconclusive because a spelling issue, processing lag, age rule, transfer, or expired visibility period can cause no result.
Cache County Jail Release Programs
The official jail material lists AA, Addiction Recovery or Heart to Heart, high-school instruction, InsideOut Dad, and parenting activities. InsideOut Dad includes strategies that help fathers prepare for release. Program participation is an in-custody service, not evidence that a participant has departed.
A family may use that program detail to understand plans the person describes, but the jail record still controls release verification. The county does not publish a general reentry transport service, replacement-identification process, or ordinary gate-money policy. Ask the jail about any program-specific transition contact instead of assuming a service exists.
Cache County Jail Release Photos
A booking image records intake. It does not show guilt, current custody, or the present appearance of someone who has left Cache County Jail. The Sheriff says downloadable jail and booking images stopped on May 5, 2021. Older county language about accepting terms and downloading a photo is stale and should not be treated as a working route.
A person seeking a releasable image may ask Sheriff Records about the booking event. Current Utah Code section 17-72-802 requires a signed statement that the copy will not be placed in a publish-for-pay outlet, and other record restrictions can still apply. A UDC prison photo is a different image from a Cache booking photo and matters only if the person entered state custody. Expungement may later restrict public government records, but it does not itself prove when the jail release occurred.
Cache County Jail Release History
The Sheriff's history begins with a prisoner held in a log schoolhouse in June 1860 because the county had no jail. Old Rock Jail served from 1887 into the early 1960s. A later sheriff and jail complex occupied and expanded the same location before the present West Valley View complex opened with the May 2004 move.
This local arc can help when an older record names a prior facility or address. Modern release checks must still use current Cache County Jail contacts and Sheriff Records. Historical buildings do not change which office now confirms custody, departure, or a transfer.
